The Reflections Arts Program is back!

This year’s theme, “What My Culture Means to Me,” invites students to unleash their creativity and share their unique perspective through any art form. Submit your entry online and submit artwork to the front desk by Tuesday, October 20th.

Reflections is a celebrated nationwide arts program that shines a spotlight on the amazing creativity and talents of students from every grade. To participate, students create original artwork inspired by this year’s theme in one (or more!) of the following six categories:

Visual Arts
Literature (Poems, Stories)
Photography
Dance Choreography
Film Production
Music Composition

This Year’s Theme: “What My Culture Means to Me”

Culture is the collection of traditions, values, stories, languages, and experiences that shape who we are and connect us to one another. It can be found in the foods we share, the music we love, the holidays we celebrate, and the everyday moments that make us feel at home. Culture is passed down through generations, shaped by new experiences, and uniquely expressed by each of us.

Through this year’s National PTA Reflections theme, “What My Culture Means to Me,” students are invited to reflect on the people, places, traditions, and experiences that shape their identity. What makes your culture special? What stories or traditions do you carry with you? How does your culture help you understand yourself and your place in the world? Let your creativity explore what culture means to you.

how to participate

Students are invited to create artwork on the theme in any of six categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.

Submit entries by Tuesday, October 20 using this Google Form. Original works for Visual Art, Photography, and Literature must also be delivered to the LP Front Office by Tuesday, October 20 (all artwork will be returned).

Entries are judged equally on the artwork and a short personal statement (up to 100 words) that explains its connection to the theme. Criteria include creativity, technique, and interpretation.

Students may submit one entry per category and participate in multiple categories. Artwork must be created by a single student, though others may appear in it. For examples and full rules, visit the National PTA website.

Awards & Recognition

All participating LP students will be recognized by the PTA, with opportunities for local, state, and national awards through CAPTA and the national PTA. Up to 30 students will also be featured in a showcase in early December at Walnut Creek Intermediate School.
