LP Embraces Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

Our PTA strives to build a strong community that welcomes all people and respects their personal identities and backgrounds. To do this, we need to make sure that every member of the LP community feels welcomed, safe and supported. We stand against hate, racism and discrimination of any kind.

Teaching our kids about diversity is the first step to furthering their understanding of the world in which we live and helps prepare them for lives in a multicultural society. Through our various programs and events, we hope to provide and promote an environment that is free of discrimination and harassment and is a safe place for all students to learn and thrive.

staff RESOURCE library

One of our main initiatives has been building a staff lending library full of inclusive stories and diverse authors. Los Perales staff can access this community-created resource to incorporate these books into their class curriculum.

Following is a list of recommended books to share with your children. (Each book cover image is linked to a read aloud video.) Many of these books can be found in our resource library. Please come back and visit this page regularly as it will be updated every month with new recommendations.
